Leonard Shek is a writer, self-taught cook, and a restaurant lifer born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He’s worked as a server, bartender, line cook, and manager in restaurants around the Bay Area and would probably quit if only he didn’t love food so much.

He’s a non-graduate of UC Berkeley and Academy of Art College and works on design, illustration, project management and restaurant consulting to help pay the bills.

He’s worked for Straits Café and Living Room Events, helped to open Poleng Lounge one of the top 10 restaurants in 2006 as rated by the SF Chronicle’s Michael Bauer.  He also held a position as Program Coordinator at the Chinese Historical Society of America and is currently working as a line cook at Nopa.
